The popular musical Mamma Mia is coming to the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. Mamma Mia! is a musical based around the music from the popular 70's music group ABBA. Songs including "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money," and "Take a Chance On Me." Mamma Mia! started on Broadway in 1999 and was adapted for the big screen with the movie out in 2008 staring Amanda Seyfried as Sophie and Meryl Streep as Donna, Sophie's mother.
Because I have seen the movie, I know the story is about a young girl, Sophie, who has never met her father, she finds her mother's diary and discovers that there are three different men that could be her father. Sophie is about to be married, and secretly invites all three men to her wedding. The story is upbeat and happy, and includes these ABBA songs that make you want to get out of your seat and dance! Donna was formerly in a music group called "The Donnas" and her two group member friends come into town for the wedding, and the three of them are a riot together.
I already have my tickets to see Mamma Mia! at the Orpheum in March! I want to make sure I don't miss Mamma Mia in Minneapolis! I'll let you know how it is!
