The Color Purple Au-Rene Theater Fort Lauderdale Florida tickets

The Color Purple musical is coming to the Au-Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from April 6-18 for a total of 17 performances. Ticket King has tickets tickets in the Balcony section for $65 each!

The Color Purple was originally a novel written by Alice Walker in 1982, which she won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The novel became a movie in 1985, with Whoopi Goldberg as the main character, and also featuring Oprah Winfrey, directed by Steven Spielberg. The Color Purple film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, but won none of them.

In 2005, The Color Purple the musical opened on Broadway. The Color Purple was nominated for eleven Tony Awards in 2006 (oddly, the same number of Academy Award nominations for the movie version!) The Color Purple tickets were available for 30 previews and 910 regular performances on Broadway between 2005 and February 2008 when it closed on Broadway. Fantasia, season three winner of American Idol played the lead role from April 2007 to January 2008 on Broadway, and has also reprised her role in the National tour for some cities.

The story of The Color Purple is about a 14 year old African American girl as she is faced with poverty, racism and sexism in the early 1900's.

The Color Purple musical tickets are going on sale in cities all over the U.S. for the National Tour! Be sure to buy your Au-Rene Theater Color Purple tickets now, before all the performances are sold out!

  1. I would LOVE to see the color purple. I went and saw Oprah live in Chicago once and it was the Color Purple special episode so I got to see a few scenes live there. I was hoping the giveaway was going to be Broadway tickets and a trip to New York, but it wasn't. We all got The Color Purple book and a CD.
