St. Paul Ordway Center La Boheme tickets
The opera La boheme is coming to the St. Paul, Minnesota Ordway Center for Performing Arts from Saturday March 6, 2010 to March 14, 2010, for a total of eight performances. Ordway Center La boheme tickets are available now through Ticket King starting at $175 per ticket.
La boheme has been around since 1896, when the world premiere performance took place in Turin, Italy. Opera America, an organization promoting opera, says that La boheme is the second most frequently performed opera in the U.S. There are many different play bill pictures that are out there for different performances that have taken place of La boheme, a few of which I have posted here.
The story of La boheme is set in Paris around the year 1830. La boheme revolves mostly around two characters, a poet named Rodolfo and a seamstress named Mimi, as well as other poor bohemians.
Rodolfo and Mimi fall in love, but ultimately break up because Rodolfo is jealous of Mimi's flirting, but also because she is sick, most likely with tuberculosis, or "consumption", and feels that because he is poor, he cannot help her, and would like Mimi to find a wealthy man that can care for her. After some time passes, Mimi and Rodolfo meet again and cannot fight their love.
La boheme was composed by Giacomo Puccini, an Italian composer, who also composed Madama Butterfly, another popular opera, and La boheme is based on Scenes de la vie de boheme by Henri Murger.
