Lion King at the Orpheum

I went to see the Lion King at the Orpheum on Saturday and, wow, it was amazing!

The opening scene actually gave me shivers as the cast performed to a T the opening portion of the Lion King where Simba is introduced at Pride Rock. The stage, as well as the isles, were filled with life-like animals as the theater was encompassed with amazing sound.

Seeing the Lion King makes me want to see Beauty and the Beast even more when it comes in the fall!

Disney's Beauty and the Beast re-released in 3D

I went to a movie last night, my first movie in AGES! (I have an 11 month old, I didn't even know what movies were playing!) Luckily my sister invited my husband and I out on a double date. While at the movie theatre, I saw a cardboard cutout ad for Disney's Beauty and the Beast 3D! Beauty and the Beast is one of my top Disney movies of all time, so I checked out the info today online.

Disney thought that the rerelease of The Lion King 3D was so good, they are rereleasing a few more popular movies to 3D. Beauty and the Beast 3D comes out on January 13, 2012, so not long to wait! Beauty and the Best originally hit movie theatres in 1991! Can you believe it's been 20 years! I cannot! I remember seeing Beauty and the Beast in the movie theatre. There was a theatre right by my house, maybe 2 blocks away, but it was the "expensive" movie theatre, so we hardly ever went there. On the night we went to this movie, we walked over to the movie theatre and saw the movie, then also got to go to the highly priced 50's style diner for ice cream! Yup, 20 years ago, and I remember all that! What a great day it was!

Also coming soon to Disney 3D is Finding Nemo, September 14, 2012, Monsters, Inc, January 18, 2013 and The Little Mermaid September 13, 2013!

Did anyone see The Lion King 3D? I'm looking for reviews. I'm skeptical on if I want to see my favorite classic Disney movies in 3D or not. Does the 3D add to the effect or take away from it? Let me know your thoughts!

I have to admit, I didn’t get to see the whole parade. It’s on TiVo, or whatever the recording device is called at my in-laws house, but I doubt I’ll make it back to watch what I missed. With a ten month old, there is a lot going on, and watching the parade came in dead last once it was time to eat breakfast and take a nap. Which is sad because I love watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

With that said, my favorite musical snippet I was able to catch during the parade was for the musical How to Succeed (in business without really trying). So odd and yet interesting to see Harry Potter act in a musical! Wait….not Harry Potter…Daniel Radcliffe. I personally have not seen him act in anything except the Harry Potter movies. I think he did a great job. Granted the music is lip-synced for the parade, but I believe it is him really singing the music at some point. I think it would be really cool to see Daniel Radcliffe on Broaday in How To Succeed the musical.

I think I have a soft place in my heart for the play/musical How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying because it was one of the spring musicals my high school put on while I was a Sophomore or Junior in high school. There were people I looked up to that were in older grades who were main leads in the musical, as well as really close friends that had bigger parts and parts in the chorus. It’s always more fun, for me, to watch a play or musical when I know someone in the production, which then leads to interest in something like this on Broadway because I have seen the story before and know what is going on when I watch it.

I would for sure see the How To Succeed musical on Broadway. I would want to see it while Daniel Radcliffe is still the lead role. He is only the lead role until January, when Darren Criss from Glee will take over the role. Darren Criss plays Glee character Blaine Anderson, for all you Gleeks out there! I would enjoy seeing How To Succeed with Darren Criss in it as well. He’s not hard to look at, and he has a great voice.

Sister Act musical on Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade review

While I’m blogging about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I’ll mention another musical I saw a snapshot of during the Parade yesterday. Sister Act. I LOVED the Sister Act movies starring Whoppi Goldberg. I think she did such a fantastic job in those movies. Since I grew up watching and loving Whoopi in the Sister Act movies, I can definitely see myself going to see Sister Act the musical.

The musical Sister Act is currently playing in New York, New York at the Broadway Theatre. Sister Act looks to be playing at the Broadway Theatre until at least the middle of June, 2012.

Spider Man Turn Off The Dark musical in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The Spiderman musical: Spider Man Turn Off The Dark was one of the many featured musicals in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday. Did you watch the parade, and if so, did you see the performance of Spider Man Turn Off The Dark? What did you think of the short tid-bit look into the musical?

I thought the costumes for the evil characters were a bit cheesey. However, there is only so much you can do on the stage versus a movie, so I cannot expect that the costumes will be as good as they were in the Spiderman movies.

I think seeing the Spiderman musical: Spider Man Turn Off The Dark would be worth it to see how they pull everything off and how they do the “flying” scenes and fight scenes between Spiderman and his nemesis’s.

That is my very brief Spider Man Turn Off the Dark musical review from what I saw on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2011.

The story takes place on Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota where bar owner Gunner Johnson, after arguing with his, says he is skipping Christmas. After he storms out of the bar, he snowmobiles across the lake, falls through, and goes into a coma. In his dreams, he is visited by Sven Yorgensen, a folk legend is replaces the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future.

Best seats for The Lion King Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre where to sit

I often see people search for where to sit for the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, or wondering where the Orpheum Theatres best seats are located, Best place to sit at Orpheum Minneapolis. This will be just my opinion, but I'll let you know where I would prefer to sit for an event at the Orpheum Theatre.

Do you think the balcony or floor is better at Orpheum theatre? When I buy Orpheum Theatre tickets, usually my first consideration is price. I usually have a limit I need to stick within. There really isn't a horrible place to sit at the Orpheum, but there are seats that are better than others. If my price limit is pretty low, the Orpheum tickets I'd more than likely need to buy would be seats in the balcony, towards the last few rows. This is where I sat for The Lion King, when the tour was here in 2004 or 2005. I was fresh out of college and had zero moo-lah! I took my Mom as her Christmas gift. If possible, I would try to get Orpheum Theater seats in the center sections of the balcony, so at least I'm centered, even if I am in the back row. You can still see fine being towards the back of the balcony at the Orpheum Theatre, mostly it's not the best place to sit because you are so far away, you lose a little bit of the performance because you cannot see the detail in the set, clothes and makeup of the actors. Also, the Orpheum Theatre is very steep, so when you're sitting in the balcony, you may sometimes miss something if they are doing anything on the top of the stage. For instance, at Wicked, they had some of the set in the middle on the very top of the stage, near the curtain. If you are towards the back, I wonder if you may have missed when that set piece moved. But it didn't bring that much to the show, it isn't a make or break point for me.

For Mamma Mia! I enjoyed the good seats I had on the Main Floor 2 row DD. Row DD is four rows from the last row on the floor, but I still had a great view. The price level for being towards the back on the floor was higher than in the balcony, but still cheaper than closer rows on the floor and balcony.

When I saw Grease at the Orpheum, I thought I had the best Orpheum seats I have had at any event I had gone to there. I sat in section 6 in the balcony, in the front row! I was so excited to have gotten those seats! Unfortunately, Grease was also the lamest show I have seen at the Orpheum! Sad face! The show was fine, but I really thought the caliber of the whole production was more like something I would expect to see at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre (and I am NOT dissing Chanhassen...it's just a smaller place and smaller production/budget). I expected a lot more for a Broadway tour than what I saw for the Grease performance.

For Avenue Q, I sat in the middle section of the balcony left, section 9, and I believe it was row J. These seats were pretty good as well. A nice in-between from the last section and the first section. I think I had similar seats for Mary Poppins, although that was section 7, so we were more centered.

I just bought my tickets for this go-round of The Lion King at the Orpheum Theatre, which is running from January 11, 2012 until February 12, 2012. It was very important to me to have Orpheum Theatre good seats for The Lion King, since I had the back seats last time I saw the show. I am bringing my two oldest nieces to see The Lion King with me as their Christmas gifts, and I am so excited. I have brought them to a few other shows before, one of them was able to see Mary Poppins with me, but I don't think they will be prepared for how awesome this performance is going to be. I consider sixth row in the balcony to be good seats! I am not positive on where the overhang of the balcony meets up with the main floor seats, but my guess, based on the Orpheum Theatre seating chart, is that balcony row A is right above row H on the main floor. I'm in row F in the balcony, which I think is equivalent to row N on the main floor. Super stoked!

Now, of course, if money were no object, I would love to sit on the center main floor 1 or 2, and somewhere between rows E and back to maybe H. Why not in front of row E? Well, I've never gotten to sit this close for a broadway show before, but I feel like there might be a "too close" seat, where you are having to put your head way far back to see everything. I know sitting in the front row at a movie theater is not the best seat. I prefer to be back at least a few rows. Also, I have sat in the front row for a play production at my high school, and I could see how caked on the makeup was, and it wasn't as good being that close to the stage. Everything looks more natural with a little bit of distance.

I hope this gives you an idea of where you would prefer to sit at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis! Ticket King has great seats in the price range you're looking for! In an update to my blog post on November 9, 2010, I found a source at www.playbill.com, that said the broadway musical The Little Mermaid did make it's U.S. regional debut at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre and Center for the Arts in Utah, this past June. While this U.S. regional debut happened, the highly anticipated national tour has not surfaced.

For those of us who were waiting for the national tour to start, we will have to hope that a tour eventually starts in the future. For now, it does not look like a national U.S. The Little Mermaid musical tour is going to happen.

The best theatre news I've heard recently is that The Lion King will be coming back to Minnesota in the 2011-2012 Broadway Season at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis!

The Lion King Broadway musical will run at the Orpheum Theatre starting on Thursday January 12, 2012, and continue through Sunday February 12, 2012.

I believe the last time The Lion King was in Minneapolis was in 2004 or 2005. I was fresh out of college with a low paying job. I bought my Mom tickets for she and I to go to The Lion King, as her Christmas gift that year. They were not the best seats, 2nd row from the back, actually, but it was still an amazing experience! The opening number was awe-some, and breathtaking, especially since it was my first Broadway musical ever!

I plan on going again this time around, and I hope to get better seats than last time. The view was fine in the back, but I want to take in the experience from a closer seat and compare the difference.

I was fortunate enough to see Mary Poppins while it was showing in Minneapolis a year or so ago, and I was blown away! It was SUCH an amazing show! It was outstanding the way they were able to manipulate the stage and the devotion of the actors to be strung up so they can fly and be upside down, and the chimney rooftop scene--just spectacular! If you have the opportunity to see the Mary Poppins musical, I would defiantly make sure you go! Young and old alike will love this musical! Especially those that grew up loving the movie version! There are some things that are different, which is always a little bit disappointing when you're a fan of the movie, and the stage performance cannot pull it off, so there are changes. However, unlike some movies that are made into stage performances, Mary Poppins surpassed my expectations!

The Paramount Theatre in Seattle hosts Mary Poppins from May 12 through May 28th.

I know I get a lot of people coming to my blog looking for information on tickets for The Little Mermaid musical National Tour-and The Little Mermaid tour dates...I have been waiting to find out information on The Little Mermaid US Tour, so I can update all of those that are looking for information as much as I am, but I hadn't heard anything yet. There has been nothing on the official site --I've been keeping my eye on it almost weekly! And I'm signed up to get updates from the official site and have not gotten an email yet with any tour dates!

The last I heard, the National US Tour of The Little Mermaid musical was to start in Fall 2010...Yet Fall 2010 is almost over, and I hadn't heard any news. However, I did some poking around today, and I found on Wikipedia, of all places, that the Little Mermaid US tour is going to be in Utah at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre, in Ivins, Utah! I went to the website for the Tuacahn Amphitheatre, and sure enough, it is listing Little Mermaid tickets for a HUGE run from June through October, 2011! That is great news for those in and around Utah!

I am really hoping that The Little Mermaid national tour makes it's way through Minneapolis because The Little Mermaid is definitely a MUST SEE Broadway show for me!

Randy Moss comes back to play for the Minnesota Vikings!

If you're like me, you've missed Randy Moss playing for the Vikings the past six years and must be STOKED that the New England Patriots traded Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings! I'm sure there are lots of you out there that didn't miss him either....

But I'm speaking to the ones that have MISSED Randy Moss! The guy that made Culpepper look good! The guy that can stick an impossible catch. I have always thought that the Vikings made a huge mistake in trading Moss after the 2004 season.

I am a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, and I love Randy Moss. I still sport my Randy Moss number 84 jersey, although I had hung my jersey up for this season, since I am 6.5 months pregnant. However, this morning, I took my Randy Moss Vikings Jersey out of the pregnancy retirement, and fit it over my growing belly! It still fits! Barely, but it fits! (and with the Twins playoff game today against the Yankees, I have my Minnesota Twins shirt on underneath! Vikings come first, but I still love my Minnesota Twins!)

My husband woke me up at 6:45 am this morning to let me know that Randy Moss was coming back to my beloved Minnesota Vikings. He had to assure me a few times that he was not joking, and I was not dreaming. Now, since you probably don't know me, you don' t know that I could sleep through a tornado, or maybe hear it, but then fall right back asleep without a problem. I love to sleep and can always fall back asleep...after he told me this news, I was UP FOR THE DAY! I hopped onto the internet to read it for myself and to update my Facebook status that it was Christmas in October, or even better, since my birthday is in October, that it was the best birthday gift EVER! This is gift enough, I don't need birthday gift this year, unless, possibly, it was a new Randy Moss jersey! :-)

With all that said, I won't pretend to know a ton about sports. Especially when it comes to non-Minnesota teams, I know very little about other teams, but I do know that Randy Moss is an awesome player, and I think the media makes him look worse than he is. Yes, he might cop an attitude sometimes, but when you're constantly scrutinized for things that don't matter, I'm willing to bet it would piss you off too.

I'm still bitter about Moss getting so much negativity from the FAKE MOONING! Look people, it's not like he actually took his pants down and mooned for real. He FAKE MOONED! I would let my son watch that any day of the week! Moss was CELEBRATING! *I don't have a son yet, but I will in January, and I will be proud to let him be a Randy Moss fan!*

Look, I hold a grudge, and I still have not forgotten how bitter I was about this dumb press making that fake mooning into such a big deal. I'm glad that Randy is willing to forget how Minnesota treated him and is willing to come back to us. Not that he had a final say in the outcome, per say, but I believe he has always wanted to play with Brett Favre, and that is probably the main or maybe the only reason he would want to play for Minnesota again. Hopefully it will end up being a joyous reunion!

I wonder what those people are thinking that had changed their Randy Moss jersey into a "Favre" jersey by crossing off the "8" in the 84....I bet they are kicking themselves now! Any guesses as to what jersey number Moss will have? Will he keep the 81 he's had for a few years now, or will Vikings number 84 let Moss have his Vikings number back!? A new number altogether?

I am SO excited to see what Randy Moss and Brett Favre, along with the rest of the amazing 2010 Minnesota Vikings offense and defense, can accomplish together! Let's get Rice healthy and really get this team going!

Have you heard the news that Spider-Man will be on Broadway this Fall?

That's right, our beloved Marvel character Spider-Man will begin previews at the Foxwoods Theatre in New York in November, and Spider-Man on Broadway Opens on December 21, 2010. The Foxwoods Theatre address is 213 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY.

The lyrics and music are by Bono & The Edge. If you're a U2 fan, especially, I am sure that the music for Spider-Man on Broadway will not let you down!

The full name of the Broadway show is: Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.

There is a good article about the actor portraying Spider-Man, Reeve Carney, in the New York Times that you may find interesting!

If you're a theatre-lover, and have a son or child (or maybe a husband!) that has never been interested in going to Broadway with you, this might be the Broadway show to change their mind!

I had been looking forward to seeing Wicked on Broadway, and was so excited for this opportunity! For those of you that are not as lucky as I am to get Wicked tickets gifted to you, there is still the chance to buy your Wicked Tickets from Ticket King!

First off, the Orpheum Theatre is an amazing place to see a play! Located at 910 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403, the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre opened in 1921 and still shows the 1920's charm almost 90 years later. A huge focal point upon walking into the Orpheum Theatre is the huge chandelier in the center of the main auditorium. The chandelier is 15 feet high and weighs 2,000 pounds, and is stunning! The Orpheum Theatre ceilings are painted, which is another focal point to look at while you wait for your show to start.

I haven't been to too many Theatre's, but it doesn't seem the norm to allow food and drinks into the main auditorium, which the Orpheum Theatre allows. The Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre has a full bar on the main level, and one in the balcony, where you can purchase an array of drinks. For Wicked, there was a non-alcoholic drink they named The Ruby Red Slipper, which was really yummy. Since I'm pregnant, it was nice to have a fun drink to order that I could drink. Usually there are also cookies for sale, which proceeds benefit a charity (at least when I've seen the cookies it always seems to be for a charity.) I am not positive if other snacks are sold.

There really doesn't' seem to be a horrible place to sit in the Orpheum Theatre, however, for more details on different locations, check out my previous post: Orpheum Theatre Wicked Tickets-Minneapolis Orpheum Best Seats. I sat in section 9 row L. If you're in the first section of the balcony, I think you'll have a better view. The higher you get, it feels a bit high, like you're missing the top of the stage, which usually doesn't matter. For Wicked, however, there are a few things that happen towards the top of the stage (as there was for Mary Poppins as well). Sitting in the side box seats, I would think you'd miss some action on the side of the stage you're sitting on. I'm not sure if those side box seats are listed with a limited view at all.

As far as a cast review of Wicked, I thought everyone did an amazing job! There were a few understudies used for our performance, and for our show, there was also a Stand-by that was used for Elphaba. I thought the actress for Elphaba did an amazing job! My favorite song was "Defying Gravity."

Watching the story of how Glinda the Good Witch and The Wicked Witch the West first met and the story that takes place before Dorothy came to Oz really makes a difference in how I look at The Wizard of Oz! It's amazing how we always tend to take situations and people at face value and we do not take the time to wonder or ask how a person came to be or why they act or do the things they do. It's amazing how differently the story is told from this other view point. I don't want to give too much away for those that may have not seen it yet, but it's very interesting!

Overall, I give Wicked five out of five stars, two thumbs up, a standing ovation, etc. If you have yet to see Wicked while it's running at the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre, do not hesitate. So, if you're a reader of my blog, and you're a Theatre Lover and live in the Minneapolis area, you probably know that Wicked is currently playing at the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre. If you haven't seen Wicked yet, but are pondering getting Wicked Tickets, you might be wondering where the best seats in the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis are located.

Now, to be honest (and in my opinion), there really isn't a horrible place to sit in the Orpheum! Check out the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre seating chart as you read along. About 6 or 7 years ago, I decided to get people theatre tickets as often as possible for birthdays and Christmas presents. Not that I can afford the best every time, but I for sure couldn't back then! I saw Little Women at the Orpheum Theatre around this time and was literally in the last row of the balcony. They were still great seats! The only issue was that we were the furthest away you can be, so we couldn't see all the details, per se, on the stage, but the biggest thing I noticed was that I couldn't make out the facial features of the actors. Not a huge deal. We still had an excellent time at the play, and we didn't miss out on any of the action of the play itself. I've also seen The Lion King at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, and sat just a few rows in front of the last row of the balcony. It was an absolutely amazing experience! (Not sure if there would be a way to NOT enjoy seeing The Lion King! At the time, it was my very first Broadway musical I had ever seen, and it just blew me away! I hope it comes back again some time!)

Now, if you can afford a little bit more, (or love to splurge a little bit on the good things in life) I LOVE sitting towards the front of the balcony. I almost enjoy overlooking the stage from the first few rows of the balcony than being on the floor. You can see everything from the balcony, and being in the first few rows of the balcony is basically the same as being about a third of the way back on the main floor (That is just a guess, but it seems pretty close!) This is where I sat for Grease last fall.

For Mamma Mia! in March, I think this was the first time I sat on the Main Floor of the Orpheum Theatre. I was towards the back of the main floor section, in a centered section, and I had a wonderful time! I felt like I could see everything really well! Would I have liked to be closer? Yes. Would I sit here again? Yes. (If I couldn't afford closer seats, or this was all that was available!)

Now, what do I really think is THE BEST PLACE to sit for Wicked at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis?

Even though I have not personally sat here yet, I would love to sit about row E-J in a centered section of the main floor. I feel like this would be the perfect place to sit. Not too far back, not too close.

Has anyone ever sat in rows A-D at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis? If you have, I would LOVE to hear from you! I have always wondered, are these first few rows THE BEST seats, or are those seats a little bit too close to the action? Do you have to almost crank your neck back to see what is going on? Are you too close and all you can see is the make up that is caked onto the actors, or is the detail amazing? Please, inquiring minds want to know! Let us know what you thought, if you have sat in the first few rows of the main floor at the Orpheum Theatre!!

At any rate, if you're hoping or planning on purchasing Wicked Tickets for the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre, you better buy your tickets NOW! I am pretty sure the box office is sold out, or if they are not totally sold out, the quantity has to be very limited. Ticket King does not have Wicked Tickets to every show, so you better act quickly if you want to see Wicked in Minneapolis! I believe this is the 3rd or 4th (check a previous blog of mine! :) time Wicked has been playing in Minneapolis, so who knows when it will be back again!

Hey Theatre-Lovers! Guess what!? Over the weekend, I was given an early birthday present from my in-laws while they were in town for a visit! Can you guess what it was? Well, if you read the title of this blog posting, you probably have a pretty good idea!

I received WICKED TICKETS as an early birthday gift! I am SO excited! Wicked is on THE top of my MUST SEE Broadway shows for 2010! Mamma Mia! Tickets and Mamma Mia Review for Minneapolis

The Mamma Mia! Broadway musical tour was in Minneapolis in March and I went with my oldest sister and my Mom. Bobbie and I bought the Mamma Mia! tickets for ourselves and our Mom as her Christmas gift. When the much anticipated day arrived, we met at my Mom's place in downtown Minneapolis for a glass of vino before heading out to a fun dinner at Palomino's restaurant. After eating, drinking, and being merry, we walked across the street to see Mamma Mia! at the Orpheum Theatre.

I absolutely LOVED the movie version of Mamma Mia! and was a little nervous that I wouldn't like the stage version as much, since sometimes there are a lot of differences on the stage because of the limitations that don't a apply to a movie set. However, I was NOT disappointed! The music was a blast, the set simple and yet completely worked and the actors were magnificent; both witty in their humor as well as wonderful singers! I laughed, I teared up a little, and I laughed some more!

The funniest scene was when the bachelor party was starting, and the groom's friends were going to be taking him away. The men came out with wet suits on and neon flippers and masks/snorkeling gear and did a hilarious dance. The actors were just a riot, hamming it up and not afraid to look like fools. I would love to watch that scene over and over again!

I definitely give Mamma Mia! two thumbs up, five stars, my stamp of approval...I think you get the point, if you ever get the chance to see Mamma Mia! scoop up the opportunity!

The musical Chicago is based on a play by the same name from 1926 written by a reporter named Maurine Dallas Watkins. Watkins wrote the play about actual crimes she had reported on. The story follows Velma Kelly, a vaudevillian, and Roxie Hart, who dreams of being famous. Velma kills her husband and sister when she finds them in bed together and goes to jail. Roxie kills murders her lover. The term "celebrity criminal" is what ensues when lawyer Billy Flynn changes the 'storyline' and gets Velma, and later, Roxie into the newspaper headlines after he "Razzle Dazzle"'s the press and community.

The Broadway rendition of the play opened in 1975, after many years of asking Watkins for the rights to make the play a musical. As Watkins had grown older, she became a born-again Christian and thought the play glamorized the style of living that the play portrays. After Watkins passed away in 1969, the rights were sold to Richard Fryer, Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse. John Kander wrote the music for the Broadway version and Fred Ebb wrote the lyrics.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has played Roxie Hart in the London production, and I believe she reprised her role as Roxie for the Chicago production. In past productions, such names as Jerry Springer and David Hasselhoff have played Billy Flynn.

In 2002, Chicago was made into a major motion picture with a star cast: Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Latifah and John C Reilly. I have never seen the musical, but I have seen the movie, and LOVE IT! The songs are very fun to listen to, and the story is very intriguing-done in a vaudeville way. I am a huge fan of musicals-so it doesn't surprise me that I liked this movie. The movie is filmed in a old-fashioned movie way, here it's basically like watching it on a stage. I would see Chicago the musical in a heart beat if it came to a city near me! If you're a big fan (or small fan) of musicals, you should definitely put Chicago on your MUST SEE Musical list! Chanhassen Dinner Theatre Footloose tickets

The musical Footloose is playing at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre starting tomorrow and running through May! Ticket King doesn't currently have tickets for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre Footloose production, but it should because this musical, based on the movie, has got to be awesome! I am definitely planning on going, since Footloose was one of my favorite movies growing up! Who could resist Kevin Bacon in 1984 as Ren McCormack, the Chicago teenager transplanted to a small town that outlaws dancing and rock music!? Ren stirs up all kinds of trouble as he gets the small town to see that music and dancing is not responsible for the sins and hardships the town may have seen in the past, including the Reverend Shaw Moore's son dying in a car accident.

Footloose has made popular songs such as "Let's Hear it for the Boy," "Almost Paradise," and
"Hurts so Good" and of course, "Footloose."

Footloose became a musical in 1998 when it opened at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre and ran through 2000. The Footloose Musical was nominated for four Tony Awards. In 2006, Footloose opened for a London production starring Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Derek Hough as Ren. Footloose has seen both UK and US tours, as well as being very popular in school performances and theatre such as the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.

There is talk of production starting in March 2010 for a film remake of Footloose that was originally to star Zac Efron, who later declined, and now Chace Crawford is said to be the leading roll. There was also talk of Derek Hough to reprise his London musical tour roll in the film. Derek Hough's sister, also a Dancing with the Stars alum and Country music singer, Julianne Hough, is the leading contender for the female role-which makes me hope that Derek is not the lead roll...as that would be awkward!

Hippodrome Performing Arts Center Phantom of the Opera Tickets!

The hugely popular musical Phantom of the Opera is running at the Hippodrome Performing Arts Center from April 8 through May 2 this year! There are a total of 35 performances of Phantom at the Hippodrome! Ticket King has tickets as low as $75 each in the Balcony section of the Hippodrome.

If you have not seen Phantom yet, you should definitely purchase your Hippodrome Phantom of the Opera tickets now, because it is a must see musical! Phantom is so widely known, and is now the longest running Broadway show, surpassing Cats! Phantom the musical opened in 1986 in London's West End and the first U.S. Tour started in 1991.

The main plot for Phantom focuses on a girl, Christine, who becomes the obsession of a musical genius known as "The Phantom of the Opera" in 1881. The Phantom helps the girl hone her voice so she can get the lead parts at the opera house. The Phantom is jealous when Christine's childhood friend arrives and Christine starts to date her friend. The Phantom demands that the opera managers use his musicals and that Christine is the lead female, and keep a box open for him. When all his demands are not met, the Phantom gets really upset and starts causing trouble. Obviously there is a lot more to the plot, but I don't want to ruin it for those that have not seen it yet!

Phantom of the Opera is such an amazing musical, with an equally amazing soundtrack! I have seen a couple different versions of the movie, but have yet to see the musical live. My husband was lucky enough to see Phantom of the Opera in New York a few years ago and he absolutely loves it! He wants to see Phantom live again! We missed it in Minneapolis a few months ago, it wasn't a very long run, and we happened to be out of town for a majority of the days that Phantom was here in Minneapolis. I will NOT be missing Phantom when it comes back to Minneapolis again!
