The Little Mermaid Musical U.S. Tour coming Fall 2010!

Great News for not only my fellow theatre lovers, but for my fellow Disney lovers! Put the two together and what is better than Disney's The Lion King, Disney's Beauty and the Beast or Disney's Mary Poppins?

Well, if you're ME, what is the best news theatre-related I've had all year is finding out that The Little Mermaid musical is starting a National U.S. Tour starting Fall 2010! The Little Mermaid has been my favorite Disney movie since before I can remember!

I was living in Connecticut when The Little Mermaid opened on Broadway in January of 2008. (It was supposed to have opened on December 6, 2007, but because of the Broadway Stagehand Strike, it was pushed back.) I wanted to go to it so badly, but I was in the middle of planning my wedding at the time, and even though Hartford is only a couple hours away from New York, it is so expensive to go into the city for a Broadway show, between paying for parking, or for the Amtrak to get into the city, getting a hotel, the food, and the tickets, it was just way too much to swing at the time! I am so excited at the idea of The Little Mermaid musical coming to Minneapolis, I cannot even fully explain it to you! It is so much easier to afford going to Broadway shows when I can see them in Minneapolis or St. Paul! I am so happy to live in a city that is small enough to not be too expensive and overwhelming, but also be big enough to get big shows like The Little Mermaid!

There are no tour cities that have been announced yet, but keep checking my Ticket King Theatre blog, I'll be sure to update you on any news I hear of The Little Mermaid tour as soon as I find anything out!

I am beyond excited, and this is one show I will NOT miss if it comes to Minneapolis! If it does not come to Minneapolis, I'll have to recruit some people to take a road trip with me to see The Little Mermaid somewhere!

I am going to list my 2010 Broadway shows MUST SEE list! These are all shows that will be somewhere in the U.S. in 2010! A couple of them I already have Broadway tickets to see, and and one of them I have already seen, but would see again!

Beauty and the Beast Musical Ordway Center tickets and Harlem Globetrotters tickets

As I previously posted, I bought Beauty and the Beast tickets for my two oldest nieces for their Christmas present and Harlem Globetrotters tickets for my three nephews. Did I mention that both of these event tickets we bought were for the same day!?

My husband and I started off our day by packing a "Daycation bag" as we coined it, with a change of clothes in it. (A day vacation). We gathered up the three boys, ages 11, 5 and 3 and drove to the Target Center to see some Harlem Globetrotter action.
We had to borrow money from my 11 year old nephew to pay for parking! Ha! We are so used to being able to park in a ramp and pay for it with our debit card on the way out we completely forgot to get cash! Walking through the Target Center parking ramp skyways, we walked past the new Target Field where the Twins will be playing next season! I knew the field was close to the Target Center, but I didn't realize HOW close!!! I am so excited for the next Twins season (which might have something to do with the Christmas present from my Mom, which was Twins tickets for five Twins games next season! Thanks Mom!)

Once we sat down, the entertainment of the Harlem Globetrotters started within a few minutes! We had GREAT seats, behind the players benches, center court, row C! Ticket King has such great seats to theater, concerts and sporting events!

I had never seen the Globetrotters before, and what a great time we had! My youngest nephew, Vincent, who is 3, watched the whole thing! He didn't get bored and want to leave, he watched the whole thing. I think a lot of the jokes went over his head, since he didn't laugh too much, but what did make him laugh is when one of the players pretended to fart in another players face. He was belly laughing at that! The other thing he laughed out was when the Globetrotters mascot came out, which was a big blow up version of Globie the mascot, and he was running around dancing to different songs. One song was the one that goes "I get knocked down, but I get up again" and everytime the song says "knocked down" Globie would trip himself and fall over. The two youngest got a kick out of that!

After the game was over, all of the Globetrotters were available for autographs. The boys got an autograph from Bones, and also got their picture taken with them!

After we left the Target Center, our busy day continued. We dropped off three boys and picked up two girls and changed into our nicer clothes! We went to dinner at TGI Fridays with Olivia and Mayci before going to Beauty and the Beast at the Ordway Center.

Beauty and the Beast was absolutely amazing! It was just like the Disney movie, with the addition of a few songs that were not in the movie. There were slight changes to help it run smooth as a play/musical, but for the most part it was very similar, which I love! I cannot stand when movies/plays differ from the original story (when I love the original story that is!)

My 8 year old niece leaned over to me during Act I and said "Thank you for taking us to this, it's just like the movie!" How cute is that!?

The Beast even rises up into the air at the end, as he transforms into the human version of the Prince! Just amazing! If you have not seen Beauty and the Beast at the Ordway, I highly recommdend buying your Beauty and the Beast tickets right away, if there are any left! It is my favorite play or musical I've ever seen! It's been a few years since I've seen the Broadway version of The Lion King, which was amazing as well, but this might have been better!

Tommy, my husband, and I, ended our long day 12 hours after we left our house. We dropped the girls off at home, showed their Mom's the pictures, and went home and crashed about 1 a.m.! What a wonderful day!

I love buying people tickets to events for their gifts for the memories we will create by going to the event together! Check with Ticket King to see what events are coming up so you can create those long lasting memories as well!

A great idea to bring the kids would be to see Mary Poppins, running from March 4 through April 10th. I saw Mary Poppins in Minneapolis in September, and it was AMAZING! If you can get Mary Poppins tickets for the Temple Buell Theatre, I would do it! I don't think you would be disappointed! There are a few scenes that are different or put in different places within the musical then from the movie, but for the most part, Mary Poppins the musical is very similar to Mary Poppins the movie!

Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre Cats Musical tickets

The musical Cats is coming to the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre for four performances only on May 14, 2010 through May 16th. Cats tickets are available through Ticket King right now! To buy your Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre Cats tickets, contact Ticket King today! Ticket King has Cats tickets starting from $45 in the Balcony, and starting at $75 each on the floor! The Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre address is 910 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis Minnesota 55403.

Cats first opened on Broadway in 1982, and was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning seven of those awards, a few being for Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Direction, which was by Trevor Nunn. Cats was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which from what I've read, he wrote based on a book of poems he read while waiting at an airport! That book was "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Eliot.

What most people probably associate most with the musical Cats is the song "Memory" which is sung by the character Grizabella. The lyrics to "Memory" were written by Trevor Nunn (which if you remember from the first paragraph, he was the director!) "Memory" has been covered by artists like Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Celine Dion, and was even sung by Susan Boyle, the now infamous winner of Britain's Got Talent (But I'm not sure what season she won.)

The "Memory" lyrics are:

Daylight See the dew on the sunflower And a rose that is fading Roses whither away Like the sunflower I yearn to turn my face to the dawn I am waiting for the day . . . Midnight Not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone In the lamplight The withered leaves collect at my feet And the wind begins to moan Memory All alone in the moonlight I can smile at the old days I was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again Every streetlamp Seems to beat a fatalistic warning Someone mutters And the streetlamp gutters And soon it will be morning Daylight I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I musn't give in When the dawn comes Tonight will be a memory too And a new day will begin Burnt out ends of smoky days The stale cold smell of morning The streetlamp dies, another night is over Another day is dawning Touch me It's so easy to leave me All alone with the memory Of my days in the sun If you touch me You'll understand what happiness is Look A new day has begun

You can check out a video of "Memory" being sung by Cats!

Musical Cats tickets would be a great gift for any reason, especially if you're trying to finish up your last minute holiday shopping! Contact Ticket King today to order your Orpheum Theatre Cats tickets for the Minneapolis four performancee run, today!

Young Frankenstein Orpheum Theatre tickets!

The relatively new musical Young Frankenstein is coming to the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis in February! Young Frankenstein's U.S. tour will stop in Minneapolis on February 9th and run through February 14th, for a total of 8 performances. Ticket King has Young Frankenstein tickets available starting at $70 each for Young Frankenstein tickets in the balcony and going up to $125 each in the orchestra.

Young Frankenstein the musical is based on the film of the same name, that came out in 1974. Young Frankenstein is a comedy poking fun at the horror film genre, with a huge influence being the 1931 film Frankenstein and 1939 film Son of Frankenstein.

The musical Young Frankenstein opened on Broadway in November of 2007 and ran on Broadway until January 2009. Young Frankenstein was nominated for three Tony Awards, for Best Actor and Actress and Best Scenic Design.

Orpheum Theatre Young Frankenstein tickets would be a great idea for a date. There is the horror genre for the guys and the comedy with some love interest for the ladies, and I can't help but notice that the last day Young Frankenstein plays in Minneapolis is Valentine's Day! It's never too early to think about how to spend that special day! Contact Ticket King today to purchase Minneapolis Young Frankenstein tickets for the Orpheum Theatre!

Target Center Harlem Globetrotters tickets

The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to Minneapolis for two days after Christmas! The Harlem Globetrotters will be entertaining audiences at the Target Center on Saturday December 26th at Noon and Sunday December 27th at 2pm. If you're still looking for gifts for someone in your life for this holiday season, Target Center Harlem Globetrotters tickets are a great idea!

I am very excited to see the Harlem Globetrotters for the first time, next week! My husband and I are taking my three nephews as their Christmas gift. I love taking my nieces and nephews to events like this as their gifts for things. Attending an event is something they will always remember, versus a toy that they will probably not even remember a few months later (also a great excuse to get myself tickets for things!) My nephews are 3, 5 and 11, and I hope that they have a blast! It will be interesting to see how my 3 year old nephew does. I've never taken him to anything before, as he's always been too young. I think he will really enjoy all the tricks the Harlem Globetrotters will do.

We are going to see the December 27th 2pm Harlem Globetrotters. Time-wise, it will be interesting because that same night, at 7:30, we are taking my two oldest nieces to see Beauty and the Beast at the Ordway! What an action-pack and fun-filled day! I am looking forward to it so much!

Ticket King has tickets for both performances, with tickets starting as low as $45 each and courtside row C tickets at $110 each! Those are amazing seats!

The Harlem Globetrotters started in the 1920s as the Chicago Globetrotters. The name was later changed to the Harlem Globetrotters to make the team seem more exotic and appealing to the locals in Chicago. Originally, the Harlem Globetrotters organized to play regular competitive basketball, but slowly turned into what we know the Harlem Globetrotters as today-basketball tricksters/entertainers, or what is called "show basketball." The Harlem Globetrotters still play to be competitive, but with that entertaining flair!

If you're still looking for your Harlem Globetrotters tickets for the Target Center in Minneapolis, contact Ticket King today!

Guthrie Theatre Wurtele Thrust Stage A Christmas Carol tickets

Ticket King has tickets left for the performance of A Christmas Carol for Friday December 18th at 7:30 p.m. A Christmas Carol tickets are starting at $75 each! There are only a few Guthrie Theatre tickets left for A Christmas Carol, so give Ticket King a call now to place your order!

A Christmas Carol runs 95 minutes with no intermission. The play is the same A Christmas Carol that is written by Charles Dickens, and this adaptation is written by Barbara Field. Ebenezer Scrooge might not like Christmas, but it will truly feel like Christmas time after you see A Christmas Carol!

Children under 5 will not be admitted into A Christmas Carol, and the Guthrie Theatre is recommending kids be at least 8 years old, because of the subject matter, it can be a little frightening!

The story A Christmas Carol has been around for a long time...Charles Dickens wrote it back in 1843! A Christmas Story follows Ebenezer Scrooge, the man who thinks of Christmas and says "Bah Humbug!", on a voyage where he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Because of these visits, his outlook on life changes and he becomes a better person.

A Christmas Carol has been made into many different plays and movies, including a new animated movie with multiple voices done by funny-man Jim Carrey.

There are only a handful of A Christmas Carol Guthrie Theatre tickets left, so don't delay!
